NEWS:   8 April 2011, SEEU, Know- How in implementation of the Municipal PET Collection Program

USAID PLASTIC RECYCLING PROJECT AND PARTNERS JOIN EFFORTS IN SUPPORTING INCLUSION OF INFORMAL WASTE COLLECTORS

On Thursday, 27 January 2011, at 14:30, USAID Plastic Recycling Project will sign Memorandum of Understanding with the Ministry of Labor and Social Affairs, Employment State Agency, City of Skopje and PAKOMAK- first authorized company for managing packaging waste. The ceremony will be held at the PRESS office of the Ministry of Labor and Social Affairs, at 4th floor.

The Memorandum of Understanding defines roles and responsibilities of all above institutions who commit to support inclusion of informal collectors of plastic PET waste into the recycling and waste management scheme.

USAID Mission Director, Michael Fritz; Minister of Labor and Social Affairs, Gelal Bajarami, Mayor of Skopje, Koce Trajanovski; Director of Employment State Agency, Vlatko Popovski and Director of PAKOMAK, Filip Ivanovski are expected to give their speeches focused on support each institution is giving to the process.

PROJECT INFO: The USAID Plastic Recycling Project in it’s third phase will focus on inclusion of informal Roma waste collectors into the existing recycling and waste management system. USAID PRP will support the informal collectors by increasing their professional capacities and in cooperation with the project partners will be working on creating new business model that includes this group of people. Those interested in start up of their business will be supported through grant program to further develop their capabilities.
